Causes of corneal edema in dogs include age-related corneal endothelial degeneration and breed-associated corneal endothelial dystrophy. As discussed in Part I on this topic (https://www.vetvine.com/list/index/profile/listing_id/918/colors-of-the-cornea-blue), one serious consequence of corneal edema is the development of bullous keratopathy and persistent or recurrent corneal ulceration.
