Pain is truly an individual experience for both humans and our animal companions. Every patient's nervous system responds a little bit differently - especially in chronic pain states like osteoarthritis. As such, treating pain is not always a "once-size-fits-all" proposition. It gets even more challenging for those with comorbidities (e.g. liver or kidney disease) - as we may be limited in the drugs we can administer to these patients. Dr. Lindsey Fry - a veterinary pain and physical rehab practitioner - explains how arthritis pain can become maladaptive and make it more challenging to get chronically painful pets feeling comfortable. Learn more on this topic and about some innovative drugs that can help these patients including: pregabalin, ketamine, low dose naltrexone, and anti-depressants like amitryptiline: https://bit.ly/Managing_Chronic_Pain
