The objectives of this presentation are to introduce the concepts of regenerative medicine that are relevant to canine health, to define the different types of stem cells and cell therapies, and to compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of these therapies.
Discussion will include:
- The clinical conditions that are relevant to efficacious stem cell therapies
- The typical population of dogs that suffer from this injury
- The natural history of the injury without more sophisticated intervention
- Response to treatment with stem cells of these clinical conditions in pilot studies
- The parameters of ongoing clinical trials
