Providing analgesia for patients undergoing enucleation is multi-modal. Retrobulbar nerve blocks are effective adjuncts for providing analgesia, however there are risks in administering a retrobulbar injection, and technical training and expertise is required. This EBU includes discussion of a recent paper that evaluated the efficacy of an intraoperative splash block for providing analgesia in dogs undergoing enucleation.
