In this Evidence Based Update we discuss findings of a recent study that examined the in vitro and in vivo effects of cranberry extract in association with UTI. Discussion includes: - Normal host defenses that prevent UTI - Why urinary tract infections develop - The constituents of cranberries and their benefits - The effects of cranberries on bacterial growth and adhesion of bacteria to cells - The efficacy of cranberries compared to antibiotics - The Specialist's Spin on the management of patients and use of cranberry extract in dogs with a history of recurrent UTI Running time: 18 mins Member Fee: $15.95; Free registration for new Members, Unlimited Plus members, and Evidence Based Update subscribers http://vetvine.com/article/181/evidence-based-update-subscriptions)
